Silverlane - 'Inside Internal Infinity'

(Drakkar Entertainment)

Germany’s Silverlane are pigeonholed as Power Metal but that’s not the tag I would give them even though they are both Powerful and Metallic. I personally think Melodic Metal would more accurately describe the bands overall sound.

Silverlane have an undeniably strong German flavour and craft some magnificently powerful heavy metal with strong melodic leanings, something the German metal scene has been king of since the dawn of the Eighties. Heavy but never aggressive its metal with a booming edge and beating drums and bass. I’m sure bands like Warlock and Doro have influenced them but make no mistake Silverlane have a very modern sound. The influences can be heard in their song writing but never in a retro way, they are inspired by not emulating.

The songs are full of driven guitars and exciting vocals which really grab your attention and get your body moving. I enjoy some of the layered harmony vocals on some of the songs which helps boost the melodic tendencies in many of the songs. They also display some symphonic traits to their song writing which adds a sense of epic-ness and grandiose to their style a great example of this is the track ‘Levithan Rising’.

There are a couple of tracks which let the side down, but on the whole it’s a pretty strong batch of tunes as most of the songs which I found less engaging happened towards the tail end of the album, therefore having a less damaging effect on my impression of the album in its entirety. The album starts really strongly but its fourth track ‘Hero Inn Sunset Club’ that really had me biting my lip and truly getting invested in the band. It’s atmospheric and impactful, there’s some wonderful subtle keyboards in this one that provide a great hook to me. It has a killer chorus following some diverse vocal delivery from start to chorus making it even more impactful. This is a great example of the band making a highly melodic song which is also a powerful banger! Another one to check out is ‘Soul Of Tears’ and ethereal ballad which showcases a more emotive side to the bands song writing and delivery.

‘Inside Infernal Infinity’ is a strong and impactful album and one that I found very entertaining and engaging. I Highly recommend it to fans of German Metal it’s a solid helping of powerful melodic metal!
