Literally a few weeks before the festival I discovered legendary AOR vocalist Max Bacon was back in the band, which was great news not just for established fans of the band but also for AOR fans in general having the opportunity to hear this great vocalist again is a real treat. This is meant as no disrespect to vocalist Ian Baker, who part of the band’s last and rather impressive album Carried By The Storm.

So the current line up of Bronz is Max Bacon on Vocals, Shaun Kirkpatrick on Guitars, Michael O’Donoghue on Guitars, Paul Webb on bass and Clive Edwards on Drums. These guys were another band I was really looking forward to catching at the Festival, having said that the band is a new discovery to me over the past few years. Max of course is well known to me but I’d never investigated Bronz before whose Taken By The Storm is a highly regarded album amongst fans of the N.W.O.B.H.M era.

Not sure today was the right crowd for the band today as the biker jackets, beards and denim jackets with Motorhead patches filled the room. Unfortunately the softer, melodic and obvious AOR sound of the band failed to grip this predominately beer and gasoline crowd who much rather have been sweating along to AC/DC, rather than pissing themselves with joy as Max made melodic beauty ‘Can’t Live Without Your Love’ his own. Today wasn’t the bands day for various reasons but I would love to check these guys out with a more AOR friendly crowd to support them!

Amongst the set list we got, ‘Taken By The Storm’, ‘Hard As A Diamond’, ‘Tiger’ & ‘Figure In The Dark’.

It’ll be interesting to see where the band goes from here with Max back in the fold, a new album hopefully and some tour dates would be lovely.
