In shocking news Rockingham Festival which took place at Nottingham Rock City last October have moved this year’s Festival to Nottingham Trent Uni – No statement has been given to the reasons behind a change of venue, but with the new Uni venue having a 1,500 total capacity it’s not a move towards downsizing the Fest. Anyone who knows me knows I have no love for Rock City and I see this change of venue as a positive move for the Fest, but I have been totally shocked at the lack of negative uproar at the change of venue given its popularity with the melodic rock crowd especially with international visitors. Maybe the venue isn’t as popular as I believed. But anyway on to the details – taking place of three days again from the 21st to 23rd of October at the aforementioned Nottingham Trent Uni and the first six bands announced are Jean Beauvoir, Kevin Chalfant, Crazy Lixx, Art Nation, From The Fire and Blood Red Saints. More to be announced shortly.

Jorn will release a new covers album entitled Heavy Rock Radio through Frontiers Records on June 3rd. It features a mixed bag of covers including Iron Maiden’s ‘The Final Frontier’, Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’, Queen’s ‘Killer Queen’ and Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’. Obviously all the songs featured get the Jorn treatment!

Well that’s all the juicy bits of news from the past month; I’ll be back in a month’s time with even more news and gossip from the world of AOR and melodic rock.
